2014 Hanse 385 — “Effortless”

HIN HANH0214I314 · Fiberglass hull with balsa core · White · Diesel · Twin wheels
About This Yacht
A 37-footer that sails like a much bigger boat and single-hands like a much smaller one.
“Effortless” is a two-cabin 2014 Hanse 385 lying in Honolulu, set up so one person can leave the slip, work the channel, and come home without ever leaving the wheel. The self-tacking jib and twin electric winches at the helm turn what is normally a two-person job into a single motion — which is what makes a boat like this get used on a Tuesday afternoon rather than only on weekends with crew.
Mechanically she is honest and current. The Volvo Penta diesel shows 500 hours with no known issues, she came out of the water in December 2025 for bottom paint, zincs and Prop Speed, and 200 watts of solar over an AGM house bank replaced within the last two years keep her self-sufficient on the hook. The sail inventory is deep for her size: a new Rolly Tasker mainsail, a gennaker with sock and a storm jib all convey, with the main halyard and both sheets replaced in 2026.
Below, the beam is carried far enough forward that the saloon and table seat a real dinner party, with a private forward cabin, an aft double, a full galley and a separate stall shower in the head. Overhead hatches and hull ports keep it bright rather than cave-like.
